Dear Payton,

I forgot to do my homework and I don’t want to get in trouble. I’m afraid my mom will be mad at me. What should I do?

 Fearfully yours,

 Ashley

Dear Ashley,

The best thing to do is admit that you didn’t do it; you’ll start off telling the truth and not lying.  The second is try to do it when you get the time if your teacher lets you. Remember, there are times it’s ok not to do your homework.  For example, if there’s an emergency.   If there’s not an emergency, then there’s no excuse for not doing it. Try your best to get good grades.

Sincerely,

Payton

Boring school uniforms- the battle girls face every morning

   By: Madison B.

The black polo, khaki's, and JSA jacket rule can be frustrating when you want to look your best for school. It's hard to be “Fashionable” when you’re told what to wear, but here’s the secret: there are still things you can do to make your outfit look great and still comply with dress code.

Tip #1 Make sure it fits!

One thing that can really bring your attitude and confidence down and your frustration up is when your clothes just don't sit right on your body. When buying your polo's, make sure they are not so tight that they show all those imperfections (not that they’re bad), but not too big where it can make you look “bigger” than what you are. Make sure your Khaki's don't tug in the wrong places. Try on different styles of Khaki's (Capri's, Skinnies, Bootlegs, Cropped) and see what looks best on you.

Tip #2 SHOES, SHOES, SHOES!

Shoes can really make anything look good. Try getting a pair that'll look good with all the styles of khaki's you bought, and will still hold up when it rains. Nike shoes look great with Capri's, Bootleg, Skinnies and cropped Khaki's. Maybe even some boat shoes or ballet flats; just make sure they'll be fine if it rains. Remember, boots aren't allowed at school.

Tip #3 Bracelets and earrings

Necklaces won’t really help you here, because you have to wear them tucked in, but bracelets and earrings are out in the open. Check out stores like American Eagle, Forever 21 and Charlotte Ruse to get some killer bracelets or make some with friends. Homemade bracelets are super cute and fun, while some nice fake pearl or charm bracelets are classic and timeless. Earrings are great, try some fake pearls or fake diamonds, they’re inexpensive, and if you loose one it won’t be that big of a deal. They match pretty much every outfit. Make sure you're just wearing one bracelet per wrist and your earrings aren't bigger than a quarter.

Go out there and take the school by storm, don't let the boring uniforms keep you from looking best. Learn to work with them and I guarantee you'll look great.

Warriors the Fourth Apprentice

by Emily G.

Author Erin Hunter

Actors/Main Characters: Ivy paw Dove paw Jay feather Lion blaze

Warriors the Fourth Apprentice is about four cats: two Apprentices and two Warriors. Three of them (Dovepaw, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze) hold the power of the stars.  Dovepaw’s sister Ivypaw is jealous and goes to the  dark forest (an evil place which can only be visited in dreams) but soon helps her sister and Lionblaze and Jayfeather by turning her back on the dark forest and becomes a spy for the good side.

Tell something good: This is the best book I’ve ever  read!

Tell something exciting: There’s action but it’s a bit sad because of the quarrel between the sisters.

Tell something you didn’t like: The training in the dark forest is a bit harsh.  The powers that the three main characters have are supposed to be a secret.  I think that Dovepaw wasn’t supposed to tell her sister, but I think sisters shouldn’t have secrets from one another, and that’s what caused the problem between them.

Overall how do you fell about this book? I feel it’s a great book! Everyone should read it.  There are several series of these books.  Be careful to read the first one first so you don’t get confused.

Dear Payton,

Dear Payton,

I have some friends that have been shoplifting and they threatened me if I told they would jump me. What should I do?                Honestly,

                     Fred

Dear Fred,

I understand your problem with your friends. I think  you know what you should do.  Don't shoplift.  That's stealing.  It's wrong.  You could go to jail for it.  Plus, think how embarrassed your parents would be if they had to come and bail you out.  And if you were caught, you could never go back into that store again.  Your friends are trying to bully you. Stand up to them and tell them "no."  And tell your parents about it.
Be strong,
Payton

Veterinarians

By Emily G.

Have you ever wanted to be a vet and care for animals, well here a surprise you need to learn math to become one. On a daily bases a vet has to know how much to give a patient of a medicine and what douse of pill needed. Animals are more fragile then we humans, each tool a vet use involves some type of math dividing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, fractions, decimals, or square root anything with math is involve in a veterinarian’s job. So if you still have that dream in mine  pay attention in math.

Seasons Greetings!- Get your friends the best gifts!

By: Madison B.

I was on Seventeen.com and came a cross an article titled “Stocking Stuffers under $20” and it made me think. People like giving presents to their friends, it’s exciting, but we really don’t know what to get them and when it comes right down to it were just kids, we don’t have jobs.

I came up with a few items, and took a few from the Seventeen article, to make a list of great gifts for your friends for under $20.

1.)   Fragrances are great. Walmart is selling great gift sets, they come with the fragrance and a lotion. You can also check out places like Target and some of your favorite clothing stores.

2.)   Burts Bees Natural Manicure set. This one I saw in the Seventeen article and it looks like a pretty good gift. It comes with a Lemon Butter cuticle cream, a Beeswax hand cream, a lip balm and a nail filler and a cuticle pusher. ($15, target.com)

3.)   Ornaments- Pier 1 Imports sells some great ornaments that you can give to your friends. They’ll see it every year and it’ll remind them of you.

4.)   Nail Polish- Nail Polishes are fun gifts. Grab your friends some awesome nail polish colors (Maybe some great reds, pinks, oranges, etc.) Try to keep the persons skin tone in mind when shopping.

Welcome

Welcome to Jaguar Forever Beat's New Look

We used to publish our JSA Jaguar Forever Beat on a Microsoft Publisher document, email it to teachers, hope they have a chance to post it on the student computers or print it out, and spent a lot of time cutting, pasting, printing, and emailing.

Of course, we had a lot of compliments on the Magazine and thoroughly enjoyed doing it!  Now we are trying to spend the bulk of our time on our ITV News Broadcasts, so our Magazine was falling to the wayside.

This blog is the solution to our problem!  We can post all our articles here, allow the blogspot genie to put it on the site on a specific schedule, save the trees we might have had to destroy by printing out our magazine, and share our magazine with readers around the world.

Not bad for a group of seven sterling journalists and one very supportive teacher.

Check our blog every day.
Mondays - Teen Report.
Tuesdays -- Academics.
Wednesday -- Advice column, and Poems.
Thursdays -- Student and Teacher Interviews, Book and Movie Reviews.
Fridays - Pictures we liked, Short Stories from Guest Authors.
Saturdays - Jokes and Riddles.
Sunday we're going to allow the Blogspot Genie to rest.

Facebook, Twitter, and Share our Blog with your friends!
