The star spangled banner was created by Mary Young Pickers
Gill, when she made the flag she was ask to make to flags a lager flag and a
small flag for bad weather, she was also ask to sow 15 star and 15 stripes, because that was the
number of states in the union. The flag was made because the Americans hope
that the huge flag would be visible to the English fleet and that it would also
lift the spirits of the Baltimoreans. Allowing them to see this flag fly in
defiance of the British. In September 14, 1814 the flag was still waving in the
breeze after twenty-five hours of heavy bombardment by the British. The British
were so discouraged to see the Star Spangled Banner still there! The flag we have to day the thirteen stripes
represent the 13 original colonies Of the United States and the 50 star
represent the 50 states in the union,
the red, white, & blue stand for the blood the was shed for freedom, purity
or purpose, and loyalty to the cause of freedom.
